COPD Biomarker Workshop, February 5th and 6th
January 16, 2013 |
The COPD Foundation, Alpha-1 Foundation and Quantitative Imaging Biomarker Alliance (QIBA) will be hosting the COPD Biomarker Qualification and Imaging Workshop II, February 5th and 6th in Bethesda, MD. This meeting is an opportunity to learn about the progress of and the selection of future COPD Biomarkers. Biomarkers can help researchers see if there are any changes in the body due to a new therapy.
The first COPD Biomarker Qualification Workshop, sponsored by the COPD Foundation in January 2010, led to the formation of the COPD Biomarker Qualification Consortium (CBQC). The first workshop provided the opportunity for individuals representing academia, industry and government to share ideas in hopes of improving the speed of development of new therapies and to potentially increase the number of therapies available to help manage COPD.
This Workshop will provide an update on new information for biomarkers evaluated during the original meeting in December of 2010, and review of emerging data on potential new biomarkers of interest, prioritize and discuss path forward for additional COPD biomarkers and discuss opportunities for imaging biomarkers.
