CDC Releases Public Health Strategic Framework for COPD Prevention

June 14, 2011

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) released its Public Health Strategic Framework for COPD Prevention, based on a workshop in the spring of 2010 that many members of the COPD Foundation leadership participated in at the CDC.

"This is the first such report published by the CDC and demonstrates a heightened commitment and awareness of the health burden of COPD, and the importance to initiate prevention programs and data collection," John W. Walsh, president and co-founder of the COPD Foundation, says. "This is a big step forward to have the CDC embrace COPD in such a comprehensive way."
