April 16, 2018 |
WASHINGTON, D.C. – April 16, 2018 – The COPD Foundation announced today that Corinne Costa Davis has been named Interim Chief Executive Officer, effective immediately. She replaces Craig Kephart who had served in the role since May 2016. Mr. Kephart will be returning to the private sector where he previously held senior leadership positions in the specialty pharmacy arena. The COPD Foundation thanks Craig for his contributions and for continuing the legacy started by founder John Walsh in 2004.
“We are grateful to Craig for his service to the COPD Foundation. Craig stepped in following the untimely loss of John Walsh and carried us through a difficult, transitional time. We wish him well in his new endeavors” said Byron Thomashow, MD and Chairman of the Board of Directors.
The COPD Foundation welcomes Corinne Costa Davis as its new Interim Chief Executive Officer. She was elected to the COPD Foundation’s Board of Directors in 2017 and headed the Foundation’s Development Committee.
Ms. Costa Davis is an experienced corporate executive who has held leadership roles such as a Chief Human Resources Officer, Chief Information Officer and Chief Operating Officer. She has worked with global organizations in multiple industry sectors including banking, asset management, financial services, communications, insurance, healthcare and hospitality. Her expertise is in driving productivity and bottom line results through the transformation of corporate functions (human resources, technology, operations, finance, procurement and marketing).
She has chaired corporate giving, health & welfare benefits and 401k committees for publicly traded companies. Additionally, she has worked closely with independent boards of directors in the development of compensations plan design and succession planning processes. She has advised executive teams and external boards as they managed significant operating model and organizational structure transformation.
Ms. Costa Davis most recently served as Chief Human Resources Officer for E*TRADE Financial. Ms. Costa Davis holds a B.S. and M.B.A. from Seton Hall University.
“The COPD Foundation is very important to me at a personal level. My late husband, Roy Davis, lived with COPD. The COPD Foundation had a profound impact in making me an informed caregiver. Their staff addressed the environmental, emotional and medical aspects of COPD with clinical excellence and emotional sensitivity, something that made me feel empowered and in control.
ALL those living with COPD deserve to live with the dignity, support, treatment and strength that Roy did. This CAN be a reality, however we MUST continue to increase awareness - awareness at the individual, government, and industry levels. Early diagnosis, proper treatment and knowledgeable patients, caregivers and health professionals (who proactively understand how to manage this disease) are so critically important to improved quality of life and less strain on our healthcare system” said Ms. Costa Davis.
“We are honored that Corinne has decided to take on the new position of Interim CEO at the COPD Foundation,” said Dr. Thomashow. “Having known Corinne for many years and seen her commitment on behalf of the COPD community, I am confident that Corinne’s passion and business background will help the Foundation continue to evolve and flourish as it tackles the critical issues faced by the millions of individuals affected by COPD.”
