Bronchiectasis Research Consortium & Registry
The Bronchiectasis Research Registry is a consolidated database of non-Cystic Fibrosis (non-CF) Bronchiectasis patients from multiple clinical institutions. The goal of the Bronchiectasis Registry is to support collaborative research and assist in the planning of multi-center clinical trials for the treatment of non-CF Bronchiectasis—a progressive, non-curable disease of the lungs which afflicts thousands of patients. The Bronchiectasis Registry will also be used to provide better insight into the diagnosis of the etiology of the different types of Bronchiectasis, as well as the pathophysiology of the disorder.
Creation of the Registry
The Bronchiectasis Research Registry is sponsored by the COPD Foundation and the Richard H. Scarborough Bronchiectasis Research Fund under the guidance and direction of the Bronchiectasis Research Consortium—a group of scientists collaborating to develop therapies to reverse, if not cure, non-CF Bronchiectasis in its various forms.
The Consortium consists of a collaboration of the COPD Foundation, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and 10 academic and medical centers from across the United States. The physicians who comprise the Consortium are renowned for their knowledge and expertise in Bronchiectasis. Chuck L. Daley, M.D. from the National Jewish Research and Medical Center is the Consortium’s Chair, and Kenneth N. Olivier, M.D., MPH from the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases/National Naval Medical Center is the Bronchiectasis Registry Advisory Committee Chair. The Bronchiectasis Research Registry Database was developed and is maintained by the Collaborative Studies Coordinating Center in the Department of Biostatistics, School of Public Health, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
The other members of the Bronchiectasis Research Consortium include:
- Timothy Aksamit, M.D.
Mayo Clinic - Alan Barker, M.D.
Oregon Health and Science University - Richard C. Boucher, M.D.
University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill - Michael Iseman, M.D.

The Bronchiectasis Research Registry will be an invaluable resource for researchers who need a cohort of Bronchiectasis patients, in turn accelerating research in therapies that will improve the quality of life for individuals with Bronchiectasis.
