COPD Foundation Programs
The programs developed by the COPD Foundation help increase awareness about COPD, its management, and resources available to individuals with COPD, caregivers, healthcare professionals, leaders in the COPD community, or the general public. C.O.P.D. Information Line: Being one of the two programs developed to support the launch of the NHLBI’s Learn More Breathe Better COPD Awareness Campaign, the Information Line has helped thousands of callers to date with resources and support.
Caregiver’s Information Line: Read about how the Caregiver’s Information Line was started and the resources it provides to caregivers of individuals with COPD.
Mobile Spirometry Unit: The MSU is the second program developed with the launch of the Learn More Breathe Better Campaign. In 2007, the MSU offered 10,152 free lung tests to individuals at 24 health fairs, senior expos, and other events around the nation! This year, the MSU continues leaving its tracks in major U.S. cities. There’s more information about the MSU program and how you can find out if it’ll be in your area soon.
COPD Digest: One of the first programs the Foundation created, the COPD Digest is the first internationally-distributed quarterly magazine. Hundreds of thousands are subscribed to this magazine, including individuals with COPD, their family members and caregivers, healthcare professionals, legislators, and other leading members of the COPD research community.
Educational Events: The Foundation has co-sponsored many patient education events, free to the public. These events included a series of lectures from leading COPD researchers and free educational materials, all designed to help educate attendees more about their COPD to improve their quality of life.
NHLBI Learn More Breathe Better Campaign: The Campaign was launched on January 18, 2008 in Washington D.C., and its purpose is to spread awareness of the underdiagnosed and underfunded disease.
