COPD Action Alert! Operation 435: Mission #2
April 7, 2009
Dear Members of the COPD Community,
Last week we asked for your help. “Will you call your Congressman,” we wrote, “and ask him to sign a letter about COPD?”
I am happy to report that many people did in fact call their Congressman. As a result, nearly 20 Representatives signed the letter, which asks Congress to start a campaign against COPD. Not a bad start.
The letter is part of our new advocacy campaign, Operation 435. It has a simple premise: The more we talk COPD, the more we can do about COPD.
We need spokespersons—people willing to share their person story—in every U.S. congressional district across America. By speaking with your elected officials about COPD, you can help us create the clout we need in Washington, DC. Have you ever wondered why some issues or diseases get all the attention? Sometimes it’s because their community is organized and vocal. We want to be more like that, but need your help.
Here’s another chance to make a difference (aka Mission #2). Our friends in the U.S. Senate have organized a letter similar to the House. Will you call your Senator’s office and ask that she sign it? It will take 2 minutes of your time and we’ll even tell you what to say. Click here for a COPD Action Alert with all the details. Please pass it, along with this message, to your friends and family. Ask them to take action too.
The deadline for Senators to sign the letter is April 27, so please don’t delay. We’ll be in touch soon with a status update. In the meantime, call or email me with questions or anything else you’d like to discuss.
Many thanks for your support,
Joe
