The Pocket Consultant Card (card) is a 4” x 6” folded tent card that contains essential information from expert-approved guidelines used to diagnosis and treat an individual with COPD. The card is user-friendly and includes a list of common symptoms for diagnosis of COPD, a chart of commonly used formulations of drugs for COPD, recommended therapy for each stage based on new A, B, C, D Assessment Model, the mMRC breathlessness scale, the COPD Assessment Test (CAT) and a diagram that shows the impact of smoking.
The COPD Foundation developed the first edition of the “COPD Pocket Consultant” (card) in 2007. The card has been updated to reflect recent treatment changes to include roflumilast as a Stage III intervention for frequent exacerbations plus the new 2012 GOLD Guidelines. The card was developed in collaboration with National Lung Health Education Program (NLHEP) and New York-Presbyterian Healthcare system.
