The COPD Foundation hosted the COPD7USA meeting on December 3rd and 4th, 2011--a CME conference for physicians, nurses, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and respiratory therapists. 
 
The COPDUSA conference series was modeled after the successful COPD conference series held in Europe for the past 14 years. The COPDUSA conference series will be held in odd calendar years, alternating years from the conference held in Europe. The University of Nebraska was the accredited partner for the conference.      

COPD7USA included a track for clinicians and researchers, and addressed specific concerns that U.S. physicians and the entire health care team face. The November 2011 issue of Lung Health Professional includes articles that highlight the latest COPD7 conference in Birmingham, England which took place in June 2010. The COPD conference series is already essential to medical education in Europe and conference scientific committee members are confident that the first U.S. conference will prove to be vital for continuing medical education in the states.
