How to Help the COPD Foundation by Volunteering |
Volunteer for the COPD Call Center
The C.O.P.D. (Call Our Patients Direct) Info Line provides facts about
Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) to callers.
The call center is staffed by volunteer COPD patients who are prepared to
handle requests from a wide range of callers. Callers include people with
symptoms, new patients, seasoned COPD patients, care givers, and concerned
members of the public who have an interest in learning more about COPD.
The call center is open to callers from 9am EST to 9pm EST and is offered
free of charge to the caller.
The toll free number is: 1-866-316-COPD (2673)
How do I volunteer for the Call Center?
The Call Center is looking for more patients to help out. If you would like
to assist in making the public more aware of COPD, or would like to learn
more about it, please go to the
COPD Information
Line website.
Community Service
Projects
Donate your time by starting a letter writing campaign or petition. This
involves getting members of your town to write letters or sign a petition.
Some goals could be to have your Governor declare November COPD Awareness
Month in your state or to have your congress people join the COPD
Congressional Caucus.
The Caucus is a group of congress people who help the COPD community by
passing laws. The more members we can get, the better the laws and funding
will be for COPD patients and programs.
It is easy to help out with this service project. Just let us know which
issue you are trying to get support for, and we will send you the needed
material.
If you have any ideas about projects that you think will be helpful, contact
us and we will see about posting them on the website. We can also offer help
from the office by getting your local newspaper and television news programs
to run a story about your project. This would allow even more people learn
about COPD!
