The COPD Foundation will guard your private information.  This statement explains how we collect information online.  It also lists the choices you have about the way we collect and use the information you provide.  For easy and direct access, we provide a link to this statement from our home page and all other pages of the site.

The COPD Foundation is the sole owner and is the only organization that uses the information we collect on this site.  We do NOT sell, trace, share, or rent the private information you supply on our website.

By using the COPD Foundation’s website, you consent to the collection and use of your information as stated below.  This is the case unless otherwise stated by you.

Types of Information we Collect
Web server traffic information: This information is used to find out the number people who visit our site and their length of stay.  We also collect data on the total number of people who visit from a domain to find the source of traffic.  None of this information we collect is about the users.  It is only to help improve our site and to better service those who visit.

Private information you provide: We only collect private information when you provide it to us.  And we only request your information when you fill out a form or survey, request information, or donate. The information we collect includes: name, address, e-mail address, and phone number. This information is securely stored internally and accessed only when we correspond with our mailing list periodically during the year, either via e-mail or regular mail.

"Cookies"
Other than the specific instances outlined in this policy, the Foundation does not collect personal information about users or how they use the site. The Foundation also does not use the information-tracking devices made possible through "cookies," small pieces of data that may be sent to your Web browser from a server and stored on your computer's hard drive.

Online Donations
The COPD Foundation will not share your private information with any outside source.  We conduct all online transfers over a secure server.  We encrypt all data and also use a firewall to protect your information.  This personally identifiable information is used to acknowledge receipt of your donation for tax purposes and to include you on the Foundation's mailing list.

When you send a donation in honor or in memory of someone and request that an acknowledgement be sent to another individual or a family, we will use the name and address of that individual or family for acknowledgement purposes only.

Mailing List
You are added to our mailing list when you donate online or send an email request.  We place you on our mailing list to receive publications either via mail or email.  You may request to have your name removed from these lists. 

Please contact us directly by regular mail if at any time you wish to be removed from the mailing list or if you would like to correct or change the personal information you have previously provided.  Our mailing address is listed at the bottom of this page.

This website contains links to other websites that are not under our control, and the COPD Foundation is not responsible for the contents of any linked web site, or any link contained in a linked web site, or any changes or updates to such web sites. The inclusion of any link does not imply endorsement by the COPD Foundation of that web site.

Changes to This Policy
In the event that the Foundation decides to alter its policy, the changes will be added directly to this statement.  We will always use information in with the version of the privacy policy under which it was originally collected.
